I read good reviews for it from a few different sources. Even if I hadn't, I still wouldn't have enjoyed Ruff Love since it just wasn't my thing I guess? I hope that my positive review wasn't one of those that led you to think too highly of the book before you read it. I loved this book a lot! I saw things much differently than you did, but that's the joy of reading different opinions and making our own. One thing I have noticed is Kirishima-sensei has this bizarre way of drawing lips, they are kind of scary aren't they! I did the same thing with a book called Man's Best Friend. Everywhere I looked it was praised highly, but I found it unappealing and disturbing. Eep!
