I was really excited about this app when I first heard about it during Yaoi-con. So, I downloaded the app onto my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 android tablet but I have yet to download any of the titles using the app yet since I have all of the ones that I want either through Amazons Kindle app or emanga.com.

Here are my impressions of the app and some information that readers should know in case they want to use this app. First, there is no integration between emanga.com or this app. So, if you already have a title stored on emanga, you will not be able to view it through this app nor will you be able to view titles you buy through the app on emanga. This is a big sticking point for me since I thought I would be able to view my emanga titles through this app instead of using the online reader on my tablet’s web browser. Emanga’s online web browser reader works on my tab but it has a tendency to not respond some times and it is not optimized for tablet viewing.

Next in order to view the price of a title you have to hit the details button then the buy button. This will lead you to the price for the title and you will be given the option of either purchasing it or canceling the transaction. This is also another annoyance since I like to know what the price is of something before I hit the buy button. Finally, the price for titles tend to run more through the app as apposed to on emanga or amazon’s kindle. For example, Falling Into Love by Takashi Kanzaki is 10.99 through the app, 9.95 on amazon’s kindle, or 450 points at emanga (or you can just go to Akadot and get the print edition for 4.75). So, prices through the app are a little on the high side especially if I can get the print edition or the emanga edition for cheaper.

So, I’ll probably purchase the next guild release through the app just so that I can find out how the app handles downloaded titles. And I hope this helps those who might be interested in using the app for android tablets.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! My apologies for my belated comment saying so. I\’ve been pointing the curious to your write-up and it\’s proven very helpful. I was really surprised about a few things you mentioned, especially the lack of connection to eManga \’purchases\’. Very unfortunate for those who\’ve been using it a lot.
