BLU Adds New Hinako Takanaga Series To Site

A Capable Man by Hinako Takanaga

While the licenses themselves aren’t new (still haven’t heard much from this weekend’s Yaoi Con, though BLU has no panel scheduled), BLU’s website has updated with pages for two of their previously announced series, A Capable Man (pictured above) and You Will Fall In Love, both series by Hinako Takanaga.

Now, while I’m thrilled these two titles are still on track, with Hinako Takanaga being one of my favourite manga-kas, I can’t help but wonder about the November and December 2008 release dates. While they were already listed with these dates by Diamond Distributers a little while back, I’m still no less skeptical. With no definitive answers yet given on the fate of some of their currently running series, and some instability from the restructuring still remaining, can we fans have faith in these release dates? I’m hopeful we can, but I guess right now only time will tell when November comes around.

I get the impression that Yaoicon isn't really an 'industry' con in the sense that…let's talk about our new licenses here!

I think this might have to do with Ycons 'limited press' policy. No offense, but I can't fault Ycon for this. :/ Outsiders coming in tend to make fans uncomfortable–and the stories that come from mainstream press tend to whiff of ridicule. For that reason, Ycon isn't keen on giving out press-passes and inviting non-BL press.

Naturally a pub will want to announces licenses [yaoi or not] at cons where they're going to get the most coverage.

    Also…I don't think I've ever picked up a BLU title. :(

@Tina: I can certainly see why that'd be the case with a convention like Yaoi Con; often it's hard enough reading general write-ups by non-fans on the subject of boys' love, let alone on the topic of an entire convention dedicated to it. At a convention like that with (as you said) limited industry presence, being labelled as Press doesn't seem like it'd have much use anyway, for press-pass holders and the industry looking for coverage. Much more use at a larger con like NYAF. For any licenses that may get announced at YC, it's a shame there seems to be such a small blogger presence there though :(

Thanks very much for the tip! I credited you when I posted it up on BoBoF. :) Thanks for being more observant than me! ;)
